Recommend A Movie

Sometimes we see a great movie that we just want to tell someone about it. If it's so good that a recommendation is in order, then by all means, let us know. Rate it, star it, or thumbs up for it. Let the recommending begin.

Rubin and Ed - This bizarre comedy stars Crispin Glover and Howard Hesseman.

Reclusive Rubin Farr teams up with vocal but unsuccessful salesman Ed Tuttle on a quest to bury Rubin's dead cat in the "perfect spot." Their trip takes them across Utah's desert where they have run-ins with Ed's ex-wife Rula and an elusive Andy Warhol critic.

I like true story films especially when they take part during times of war. Here is one I have not recommended before. It's foreign.

Always 1989

Richard Dryfuss Holly Hunter.

http://www.imdb.com/title/tt0096794/

A romantic adventure about a legendary pilot's passion for dare-devil firefighting and his girl... and giving inspiration

One of my all time favorite movies.. classic Dreyfuss.. and Audrey Hepburns last film role. Quirky characters, but lovable.

Paradise Road (1997)

pr.png

Based on true events, Paradise Road follows the story of a group of women imprisoned in a POW camp in Japan during World War II and the trials they had to overcome to survive.

Glenn Close plays the lead role (in case you couldn't tell from the picture) and is superb at it!

This is a pretty heavy (but at times, heartwarming) movie of a story that isn't often told and definitely worth a watch if you enjoyed films like Defiance and Schindler's List

Peter Watkins's

PUNISHMENT PARK (1971)

Punishment_Park-326642055-large.jpg

this directors work as only recently began to see the light of day (past 5 years maybe).I've been trading since the VHS days and just finding a really shitty quality copy of this gem on VHS was like Indy finding the Ark.now its available with a beaitiful remastered transfer in lovely WIDESCREEN

"Punishment Park" is a pseudo-documentary purporting to be a film crews's news coverage of the team of soldiers escorting a group of hippies, draft dodgers, and anti-establishment types across the desert in a type of capture the flag game. The soldiers vow not to interfere with the rebels' progress and merely shepherd them along to their destination. At that point, having obtained their goal, they will be released. The film crew's coverage is meant to insure that the military's intentions are honorable. As the representatives of the 60's counter-culture get nearer to passing this arbitrary test, the soldiers become increasingly hostile, attempting to force the hippies out of their pacifist behavior. A lot of this film appears improvised and in several scenes real tempers seem to flare as some of the "acting" got overaggressive. This is a interesting exercise in situational ethics. The cinéma vérité style, hand-held camera, and ambiguous demands of the director - would the actors be able to maintain their roles given the hazing they were taking - pushed some to the brink. The cast's emotions are clearly on the surface. Unfortunately this film has gone completely underground and is next to impossible to find. It would offer a captivating document of the distrust that existed between soldiers willfully serving in the military and those persons who opposed the war peacefully. Written by

21 Jump Street was brilliant, saw it in the cinema, highly recommend to anyone who likes drug oriented teen comedy (e.g. Dude, wheres my car?) Kinda like a 'grew up and got high' hot fuzz.

The kingdom (2007) i found to be excellent,,very lifelike explosions, bomb vests, and the production defintley done there homework when trying to investigate a crime aimed at american people but in a Muslim country.excellent acting too by Jamie foxx & Jennifer Garnner .the 7.0 on the Imdb does merit its score although id have given it an 8. http://www.imdb.com/title/tt0431197/

Very unusual film that moves in an unpredictable way , its so dark and convincing, all hinged around what seems like a implausible plot line but upon further analysis is very tangible , i just watched it for the second time and it was better than the first time .

Bon Cop, Bad Cop (2006)

qiA1k.jpg

http://www.imdb.com/title/tt0479647/

This is a hilarious little gem that pokes fun at the rivalry between Quebec and Ontario. It's a buddy movie, with a few twists, and of course hockey factors into it, because it's Canadian, eh? In French and English.

I rate it 8 out of 10, but I'm biased. hehe I laughed so hard I cried.

The first step to finding your destiny is leaving your mother's basement.

DirectorMark Duplass, Jay Duplass

WriterJay Duplass, Mark Duplass

CastEd Helms, Susan Sarandon, Judy Greer

Dispatched from his basement room on an errand for his mother, slacker Jeff might discover his destiny (finally) when he spends the day with his brother as he tracks his possibly adulterous wife.

This movie was well done. Two of my favorite actors i thought it would be all laughs. But i was drawn in by the characters emotional ride. 7 out of 10 DFs.

Green butcher

http://www.imdb.com/title/tt0342492/

Svend: Taste this marinade.

Bjarne: No.

Svend: Smell this marinade.

Bjarne: I smoke 20 joints a day. I couldn't smell it if my hair was on fire.

Bjarne: I haven't got any tea... But I got lots of pot if that's okay?

Astrid: That's okay, with milk and sugar please.

Crazy Danish film...
